Interviewee: Jessica Gardner

Jessica Gardner is a remarkable 18-year-old who, from a young age, was exposed to an environment that required her to develop a mature way of thinking.  As a teenager, she realized that she was not living to her full potential and happiness. In order to do that, she knew a drastic change was required.

Using her resilient nature and strong work ethic, Jessica embarked on a path to independence at 16 years of age. She had to overcome many challenges that are not typical for someone so young.  Knowing that education is essential for success, she excelled academically and has received a full scholarship to university.  In addition she has been successful in sports and theatre, and has been a volunteer in her community.

More recently, Jessica noted that her younger sister was struggling with similar issues. She immediately welcomed her into her home and has been rewarded with seeing her sister’s well-being blossom.

Even though she has faced adversity throughout this experience, it has turned out to be very positive.
